How Do I Broadcast On Cam4?

Broadcasting on CAM4 is now easier and more flexible than ever with modern browser technology and mobile apps. Here's how to get started:

Option 1: Browser Broadcasting (WebRTC)

Requirements:

  • A modern web browser that supports WebRTC:
    • Chrome 64 or newer
    • Firefox 58 or newer
    • Safari 11 or newer
    • Edge (Chromium-based)
  • A webcam and microphone
  • Stable internet connection

Steps to Start:

  1. Sign In to your CAM4 account at the top of the page

    • If you don't have an account, create a free one at cam4.com
  2. Click "Start Broadcast" or the Broadcast button in the top menu

  3. Grant Camera & Microphone Permissions

    • Your browser will prompt you to allow access to your camera and microphone
    • Click "Allow" when prompted
    • If you accidentally clicked "Block," you'll need to update your browser permissions:
      • Click the camera icon in your browser's address bar
      • Change the setting to "Allow"
  4. Set Up Your Broadcast

    • Write a status message or room description (appears above your thumbnail)
    • Choose your show type (Solo, Male Group, Female Group, or Male-Female Group)
    • Configure privacy settings if you're a Gold member
  5. Go Live

    • Click "Start Broadcast" to begin streaming
    • You're now live!

Option 2: OBS Broadcasting (Advanced)

For professional-quality streaming with advanced controls, use OBS (Open Broadcaster Software):

Setup:

  1. Download OBS from obsproject.com (free)
  2. Go to cam4.com and navigate to your Broadcast Settings
  3. Find your Stream Key in your CAM4 account settings
  4. In OBS, go to Settings → Stream
    • Select "Custom" as service
    • Enter your CAM4 RTMP server URL
    • Enter your stream key
  5. Configure your video/audio sources in OBS
  6. Click "Start Streaming" in OBS
  7. Open your CAM4 broadcast window to go live

Option 3: Mobile Broadcasting

Use the C4 Broadcaster app for Android to stream from your mobile device:

  • Download from Google Play
  • Sign in with your CAM4 credentials
  • Grant camera and microphone permissions
  • Tap "Start Broadcast" to go live
  • Stream from anywhere with cellular or WiFi
For iOS, it is required to use the latest version of Safari, since Safari is the only browser supported for mobile broadcasting on iOS.

Troubleshooting

Camera/Microphone Not Working?

  • Ensure browser permissions are granted
  • Check that no other applications are using your camera
  • Try refreshing the page and clicking "Allow" again
  • On Mac: Go to System Preferences → Security & Privacy → Camera/Microphone and enable access for your browser

Stream Quality Issues?

  • Close unnecessary browser tabs and applications
  • Use a wired internet connection if possible
  • Adjust video quality settings in your broadcast window
  • Consider using OBS for better bitrate control

Important Notes

  • Flash Player is no longer supported or required
  • All modern broadcasting uses WebRTC or RTMP protocols
  • You must be 18+ and verify your identity to broadcast
  • Review CAM4's broadcasting guidelines before going live
